Administration
Because we are a Catholic institution,
Ascension Catholic School System is
ultimately owned and operated by the
Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Baton
Rouge. This is the case of all Catholic
Schools located in the Diocese of Baton
Rouge. All these Catholic schools,
including ours, is under the supervision
of the Diocesan Superintendent of Schools,
and is operated in strict accordance with
provisions of the Administrative Manual
published by the Diocesan Schools Office.
By “Administration" is generally meant the
Administrator, Principals, Assistant
Principals, and Deans of Discipline/Dean

A. ADMINISTRATOR/HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL
The Diocesan Superintendent of Schools, in
consultation with the Ascension Catholic
Diocesan Regional School Board, hires the

to conduct and supervise the day-to-day
activities/business of the Ascension
Catholic system in general and of the High
School Division in particular, as the High

C. ASCENSION CATHOLIC DIOCESAN REGIONAL SCHOOL BOARD
The board is composed of 10 lay members (6
elected by parents of the school, the
President of the Home & School Association
and three appointed by the Bishop in
consultation with the school
Administration, School Board, and the
Diocesan Superintendent of Schools. There
will also be two (2) priests on the board,
one appointed by the Bishop and one
elected by the member priest of the
deanery. The Board is advisory in nature
and assists the school’s administration in
the formulation of policy — that is not
strictly the prerogative and domain of the
school administration — for the productive
implementation of the curricular and
extra-curricular programs. The Board works
within the boundaries of its constitution
and by-laws, which outline its role and
organization, etc. A copy of the Ascension
Catholic Board Constitution and By-Laws is
available to parents upon request.
