Track and field at ACHS will have a new look in 2007.  21 members graduated from the 2006 team leaving 15 returning letterman.  Among returning letterman are Danaye Julien (3rd place state shotput), Katherine Capone (1st place district high jump), and Steele Tortorich (4th place state shotput).

2006 District Meet Results:

The 2006 boys team was lead by field specialist Warren Couch and Steele Tortorich.  Warren, now competing in football at Louisiana College placed 3rd at the LHSAA State Meet in the javelin.

The 2006 girls team was lead by distance runner Brittney Zeringue and shot-putter Danaye Julien.  Brittney, now attending North Western State University, was a two-time winner of the districts 'Most Valuable Female Athlete Award'.  In her junior and senior year Brittney won a total of 4 district championships.

The 2007 boys team will be lead by shot-putter Steele Tortorich, 4th place in State in 2006, and middle school distance runner Taylor Cavalier.  Taylor placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run and 5th in the 3200 meter run in district in 2006.  Steele and Taylor are the only two lettermen for the boys team.

The 2007 girls team, although rebuilding after placing 2nd in district in 2005 and 2006 have several outstanding young athletes returning.  The girls team will be lead by shot-putter Danaye Julien, 3rd in State in 2006.  Also returning to the team is Katherine Capone, District high-jump champion.  Others returning are field specialist Cami Julien, Shamyra Lavigne, and Amy Waguespack.  Runners and jumpers returning in 2007 are Rani Davis, Arlaina Ferchaud, Brittani Geason, Deja Stieb, and Chelsea Zeringue.

The 2007 team will be coached by Head Coach Ronald Bagala, Middle School Head Coach Joe Cavalier, Asst. Coaches Chandra Ewen, Dwayne Thomassee, Megan Hanzlik, and volunteer Coach Donovan Stieb.
